With the New Mpesa transaction Charges, it won’t be easy to compete with Safaricom. Starting from January 2021, the company will reduce transaction charges up to 45%. Safaricom clients will also enjoy sending 100 and below this amount for free.
In their statement, Safaricom announced these changes claiming they were guided by the Central bank of Kenya in their principle of pricing of mobile money services. If you can remember, in march central bank ordered a zero transaction cost for an amount less than 1000/= which is supposed to end in January 2021.
If you are sending an amount which is between 101 – 500, it will cost you Ksh.6 for the transaction. Before the changes, to send such an amount costed 11/=. This means the amount has reduced by 5 bobs. Sending an amount which is between 1501-2500 will cost 32 bob. This same amount costed 41 bobs before the changes. If you are sending an amount that is less than 100/ then you will do it for free without any transaction charges.
